My poor, unwitting Bella woke up today without a clue of what was to come. Surgery. Man, I hate that word. It’s even just a scary word!! Sur-ge-ry. Anyway, Mrs. Bella Pumpkin Pants had a funky little growth on her ear and it just kept growing and becoming uglier and bigger as the months passed. Our vet brought up another scary word – cancer. We had her lungs x-rayed a few weeks ago and everything looked good, so the best thing we could do was cut out the growth and a bit more all around it and then test the cells, hoping and believing it was a benign growth.
See how cute and happy and innocent she was playing outside just before going into the vet’s office? Her last minutes with two beautiful ears intact.
And Florian’s trying to keep her calm as she begins to realize… I know the vet’s office… and I don’t like it! Her breathing got all heavy like it does during thunderstorms and she gave us some evil looks. I think maybe she could also sense our nervousness.
Then the big puppy got lifted onto the big table. At that point she was already half passed out from the drugs to calm her down but she knew something not good was coming. She gave us a sad, sad look before we left her.
The surgery went well and Bella woke up with no problems or complications! She does look funny though with her little naked rat ear all stitched up.
Still woozy from the drugs and super mad at mommy and daddy for making her suffer, bella was not a happy camper in the car ride home.
But she found some peace at home. We let her lay down wherever she wanted, which happened to be in a super-uncomforable position in the middle of our living room. So, we at least put a pillow under her head to make it a little more comfy as she recovered 🙂
We’ll get lab results next week so keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!
